Hey Cambridge I'm back!! Me and my partners have been researching many film openings. We decided on a genre which is sports drama! In order to gain a better understanding of the genre i will analyze and interpret film openings that relate to the genre we chose for our film opening. Here are 3 awesome film openings that caught my attention in the same genre.
Film opening number one.
Rocky (1976)

The film starts with a very low dimmed boxing gym. Rocky Bilboa an underdog, small time fighter, wrestling Spider Rico in a small match. Roxy is a struggling boxer in a small town in philadelphia, the environment is tough and dark. And the fight itself is aggressive. The setting of the opening scene is dark and grainy highlighting the way Rocky is such an underdog.
Film opening number 2.
Remember the Titans (2000)
The film begins with one of the football players funeral, a voiceover tells us about the past, and then the scene goes to Virginia 1971, at this time all black and white students were forced to learn together and use the same facilities. Which was very difficult for them since it caused plenty of tension. We see real TV News of people protesting. Then we meet one of the coaches, a tough but good coach who's been hired to lead the football team. Many people including the players didn't like this change. It makes us realize that this movie is less about football and more about racism, and people learning to work together.
Film opening number 3.
He Got Game (1998)
The movie begins with slow motion shots of people playing basketball all over the place. We see kids on a playground courts, in their neighborhood courts, and people even shooting hoops in fields. The music makes the scene calm and really make it noticeable how basketball isn't just a sport it's a way of life for many people. Then the focus changes to Jake the main character. He looks like a serious man, he's been serving time in prison, he's watching basketball from behind a fence, separated from the world. This film opening hooks us and making it known that basketball has a huge importance.
